Bad call. What should be done is an increase of your private servers (or whatever hosting options there is) for at least a month to cope up with the traffic WHILE doing the new code. Then when you have some cash flowing in you could start renting better servers. Better servers means more people signing in because the server stops lagging and ofcourse the normal growth which gives more hits on the banner which leads to more money.
